As I came in fae Auchindoun Just a wee bit fae the toun Tae the Hi'lands I was bound To view the Haughs of Cromdale I met a man in tartan trews I spiered at him what was the news Quo' he, "The Hi'land army rues That e'er we came to Cromdale "We were in bed sir every man When the English host upon us came A bloody battle then began Upon the Haughs of Cromdale The English horse they were so rude They bathed their hoofs in Hi'land blood But our brave clans they boldly stood Upon the Haughs of Cromdale "But alas! We could no longer stay For o'er the hills we came away Sore we did lament the day That e’er we came to Cromdale." Thus the great Montrose did say "Can you direct the nearest way? For I will o'er the hills this day And view the Haughs of Cromdale." "Alas my lord you're not so strong You scarcely have two thousand men There’s twenty-thousand on the plain Stand rank and file on Cromdale." Thus the great Montrose did say “Hi’land man show me the way For I will o'er the hills this day And view the Haughs of Cromdale." They were at dinner every man When the great Montrose upon them came A second battle then began Upon the Haughs of Cromdale The Grant, Mackenzie and McKay Soon as Montrose they did espy O then they fought most valiantly Upon the Haughs of Cromdale The McDonalds they returned again The Camerons did their standard join McIntosh played a bloody game Upon the Haughs of Cromdale The Gordons boldly did advance The Frasers fought with sword and lance The Grahams made their heads to dance Upon the Haughs of Cromdale The loyal Stewarts with Montrose So boldly set upon their foes And brought them down with Hi'land blows Upon the Haughs of Cromdale Of twenty-thousand Cromwell's men Five-hundred fled to Aberdeen The rest of them lie on the plain Upon the Haughs of Cromdale

There's nought but care on every hand In every hour that passes o What signifies the life of man And 'twere na' for the lassies o Green grow the rashes o Green grow the rashes o The sweetest hours that e'er I spend Are spent among the lassies o The worldly race may riches chase And riches still may fly them o And though at last they catch them fast Their hearts can ne'er enjoy them o Gi'e me a cannie hour at e'en, My arms about my dearie o And worldly cares and worldly men May a' gae tapsalteerie o Green grow the rashes o Green grow the rashes o The sweetest hours that e'er I spend Are spent among the lassies o You sae douce ye sneer at this Ye're nought but senseless asses o The wisest man the world e'er saw He dearly loved the lasses o Auld Nature swears the lovely dears Her noblest work she classes o Her prentice hand she tried on man And then she made the lasses She made the lassies Green grow the rashes Green grow the rashes o Green grow the rashes o The sweetest hours that e'er I spend Are spent among the lassies Green grow the rashes

Good Enough 02:34
If you want me take me as I am If you don’t well that’s just tough I’ve learned to live with what they always told me Sometimes’s good’s not good enough I gave up trying when I Found that I was lying to myself I could take you to the place I’m going Where even strong hearts find it tough Give me your best and I will make it better Just being good’s not good enough Don’t be afraid to stand for What your heart believe’s in So follow on for hope and love and glory Don’t expect help from above If you can make it to your destination You’ll find that good is good enough Give me a reason Why I’m the one to see this through Is there a hope in hell It’s something you would want to do Show me you’re not laughing to yourself So if you want me take me as I am If you don’t well that’s just tough When I make it to my destination I’ll know that good is good enough I’ll know that good is good enough I’ll know that good is good enough

Loch Lomond 05:09
By yon bonnie banks, by yon bonnie braes Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond Me and my true love were ever wont to gae On the bonny bonny banks of Loch Lomond 'Twas there that we parted in yon shady glen On the steep steep side o’ Ben Lomond Where in purple hue the Hi’land hills we view And the moon coming out in the gloaming Ye'll tak' the high road and I'll tak’ the low road And I'll be in Scotland afore ye But me and my true love will never meet again On the bonny bonny banks of Loch Lomond The wee birdies sing and the wild flowers spring And in sunshine the waters are sleeping But the broken heart it kens nae second spring again And the waefu' may cease fae their greetin' Ye'll tak' the high road and I'll tak’ the low road And I'll be in Scotland afore ye But me and my true love will never meet again On the bonny bonny banks of Loch Lomond On the bonny bonny banks of Loch Lomond

about

folk-rock

This is a compilation derived from two earlier albums released in the 1990s. The tracks have been reworked with some editing, overdubbing and remastering giving them a more contemporary sound. Track 10, Different Class (a tribute to Burns), is a new piece recorded in 2013. The material is a mixture of original and traditional song alongside some instrumentals. The compliment of musicians who feature comes from the cream of the Scottish crop.
